Projekt und Rolle der Freiwilligen

Our Partner

The program is managed by a local NGO who protects street animals in Naples with the aim to improve the situation of animals living on the streets. The NGO is managing a dog shelter in the suburbs of the city, in one of the most populated and underprivileged area of the city. They started about 30 years ago rescuing stray dogs and then they created this shelter.
The shelter is an home for more than 100 dogs who were abandoned or grew up on the streets. The shelter is leaded by a retired lady who divides her time between different activities ranging from veterinary care, cleaning cages, preparing food and of course playing, as well as coordinating volunteers and struggling to receive support.
Many of the dogs were abandoned cause they are old and sick, but there are also some puppets when it happens that they had extra births.

Your work

You'll help her and the other local volunteers in taking good care of the dogs: they'll be very rewarding and they'll be your best friends!
Due to the amount of work that it takes to keep the program running, the help provided by volunteers is always greatly appreciated.
The work is mainly physical and you're supposed to help in cleaning cages, prepare meals and whe it's possible to play with dogs.
Volunteers will have a morning or afternoon shift at your placement and will work for approximately 3/4 hours from Mondays to Fridays. The shelter is open 7/7, so the volunteers more committed could decide to join it during Saturdays or Sundays too.

Given the above mentioned lack of resources, volunteers could help the NGO in fundraising activities, promoting some crowdfunding campaigns, or help in small renovations and maintenance of the shelter.

Before starting your volunteer work project, you will receive an orientation by our local staff. The project can be reached by public transportation (45-50 minutes from the volunteer house) and one of the team is coming with you on your first day there.

Die Freiwilligen-Organisation stellt sich vor

We are a worker-run service cooperative founded in March 2015. Our primary objective is to integrate the local network of NGOs, social enterprises and schools with an international network of volunteers. Our vision is to promote international volunteerism and social internships by strategically matching international volunteers with local NGOs and local talents. Our goal is to be a support to the community thanks to volunteers and interns. Their help, ideas and the exchange with the locals bring a positive impact on Naples. We connect and match the energy of volunteers from all over the world with the knowledge and skills of local NGOs and Schools. We partner with schools and NGOs to provide resources that support health and welfare, environmental conservation, and education. Volunteers and interns are placed with partner NGOs and we support their placements.
