Animal Protection Project in the Amazon
During this project in the Amazon region, you’ll assist animals rescued from illegal trafficking, often misused as pets, mascots, or exhibits. Sadly, many locals lack education about animal welfare and their environment, leading to hunting for illegal smuggling, consumption, or mistreatment. Many are unaware that species like tapirs are critically endangered, as indigenous groups remain legally permitted to hunt them.
Your work focuses on providing sanctuary for animals kept in unnatural conditions. Rescued animals are rehabilitated, given veterinary care if possible, and prepared for release into their natural habitat.
Urgent Help Needed!
With no public funding, this project relies on volunteers and donations. Managed by an Amazonian indigenous family who recently secured land for animal protection, the reserve struggles to cover ongoing care and food costs. International support through volunteering and donations is critical.
Your Role
As a volunteer, you’ll take on diverse tasks:
Creating natural habitats
Educating communities on animal welfare
Feeding and caring for animals
Supporting daily operations
This long-running project will provide a task overview before arrival.
Your Impact: Preserving a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Peru
Your work actively supports endangered species conservation in the Manú National Park Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987.
