Our wildlife refuge in Malawi aims to provide veterinary care nationwide through the Wildlife Emergency Response Group. The program manager is the only veterinarian authorized to capture animals in Malawi. She is assisted by two veterinarians trained abroad, so students and interns join an experienced and skilled team during this veterinary internship in Africa.
As with all our international animal internship programs, this project in Malawi allows you to validate your degree while contributing to the preservation of the region’s wildlife.
Veterinary Internship Missions in Africa
Students will assist the refuge’s veterinary team in their daily routine:
Depending on staff availability, a number of theoretical and practical training sessions may also be offered.
Work at the sanctuary differs from the daily routine of a domestic animal clinic, making this program ideal for those seeking hands-on experience in wildlife rehabilitation.
By splitting your time between the sanctuary and local communities, you will learn new care techniques and contribute significantly to animal protection in Malawi. The current phase of the project includes raising awareness among veterinarians in villages surrounding the reserve.
