Supporting Social Development Through Surfing, Education, and Art

Although Tierra Bomba Island is located near the mainland city of Cartagena, the village faces challenges such as lack of running water, unreliable electricity, and no proper waste disposal. Many families live in poverty, struggling daily to earn enough for basic needs. Children and youth often grow up in harsh conditions, missing regular schooling and forced to work to support their families. This project empowers them, encouraging a strong education and instilling discipline and values through surfing and educational activities. By doing so, it opens doors to future opportunities and new perspectives in life.

Children and youth in the project develop strong values and become agents of change in their communities, teaching environmental protection and guiding their communities toward sustainable living in harmony with nature.

The project creates lasting impact through three core focus areas:

• **Surfing**: Motivate youth through self-discipline, teamwork, camaraderie, resilience, and solidarity. Raise awareness about environmental conservation and waste-free living.
• **Education**: Keep children in school and provide extracurricular activities in art, languages, women’s empowerment, and environmental issues.
• **Environmental Conservation**: Integrate sustainability into all project activities. Conduct workshops, recycling festivals, beach cleanups, and social enterprises that repurpose materials. Collaborate with the entire community to promote eco-conscious practices.
