Join a scientific expedition in the heart Indonesian Islands!

Einsatzort: Indonesien, Asien
Aktions-Bereich: Natur-und Umweltschutz, Expeditionen
Take part in an exceptional scientific adventure: join a team of passionate explorers and interdisciplinary researchers to survey and study the unique biodiversity of Sulawesi Island, now under serious threat. Two expeditions are scheduled for fall 2025!

Projekt und Rolle der Freiwilligen

Sulawesi Island, at the heart of the Coral Triangle, harbors exceptional biodiversity, particularly in its karst mountain ranges and remote archipelagos. This natural wealth is now seriously threatened by destructive activities such as mining, intensive agriculture, deforestation, and pollution. These pressures endanger rare ecosystems and local communities alike.

In response to this urgent situation, our scientific expedition program organizes exploratory missions in understudied areas to better protect their natural and cultural treasures.

Upcoming expeditions:

Canopy & Karst Ecosystems Study Project: Exploration up to 2000 m altitude, biodiversity observation by elevation, and tree climbing.

Speleology & Underground Exploration Project: Archaeological prospections in karst caves, study of subterranean biodiversity, and analysis of an underground river system.

Role of ecovolunteers during the expeditions:

- Support logistics: Help access remote areas and set up a functional, comfortable, and eco-friendly base camp (water, energy, cooking, latrines).

-Assist research: Follow scientific protocols to study endemic biodiversity and pollution impacts on ecosystems.

Optional: Create audiovisual or artistic content (video, photography, illustration) to document the beauty, fragility, and conservation efforts of these places.

Expedition context:

These projects are true scientific adventures. You will operate in remote, isolated environments, far from modern comforts. These are largely unexplored territories where unpredictability and improvisation are an essential part of the experience!

Led by experienced explorers and researchers, with the support of a local university and the approval of local authorities, these expeditions ensure both a high level of safety and full immersion in spectacular ecosystems.

Die Freiwilligen-Organisation stellt sich vor

Since 2009, we have been actively working to protect and promote the last remaining threatened biodiversity sanctuaries, particularly the Makay massif (Madagascar) and the island of Sulawesi (Indonesia), two territories of exceptional ecological richness.

Born out of naturalist scientific expeditions, our organization works hand in hand with local and international interdisciplinary researchers to study and document the richness of these unique ecosystems, thereby building a strong case for the creation of protected areas.

At the same time, we work closely with local communities, developing a holistic approach to sustainable development focused on social, environmental, and economic aspects. It implements concrete actions with and for the populations to improve their living conditions, well-being, and to promote local and sustainable management of natural areas.

Protecting these biodiversity sanctuaries also means raising awareness and mobilizing the international community. Through documentaries, exhibitions, and educational science outreach programs, our organization introduces these territories to the general public and raises awareness about the urgency of their protection. We also offer citizens the opportunity to get actively involved through ecovolunteering missions.
So wählen wir die Organisationen auf unserem Portal aus.
