Act for a future free of plastic pollution and help protect the natural treasures of Indonesian Islands

Einsatzort: Indonesien, Asien
Aktions-Bereich: Natur-und Umweltschutz, Unterricht & Bildung
In the heart of the Coral Triangle, take part in the “Refuse Plastic” mission in Sulawesi. Contribute to beach cleanups, waste sorting, awareness workshops, ecological monitoring, and mangrove reforestation. Experience a human and ecological adventure in service of biodiversity and a just transition.

Projekt und Rolle der Freiwilligen

In the heart of the Coral Triangle, the Konawe region, in the southeast of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, is home to exceptional terrestrial and marine biodiversity. However, this ecosystem is now seriously threatened by the accumulation of plastic waste in the waters and on the beaches. The lack of waste treatment infrastructure increases the ecological and health pressure on local populations and their environment.

In response to this emergency, a sustainable plastic waste management project has been launched in coastal villages, with the goal of improving plastic recovery and protecting marine ecosystems.

Your role as an ecovolunteer:

You will actively take part in key project missions, working alongside local communities:

- Waste management: Collecting waste in villages, on beaches, and along fringing reefs; sorting and recycling it in a local workshop.

- Awareness workshops: Organizing sessions in schools and communities to raise awareness about the health and environmental dangers of plastic.

- Coral reef monitoring: Snorkeling activities to observe reef conditions and collect scientific data essential for ecological monitoring.

- Coastal reforestation: Planting mangroves to help restore fragile ecosystems, based on identified needs.

- If you have artistic or audiovisual skills, you can also create a visual logbook or produce content to help raise awareness about the beauty and fragility of these environments.

Supervision and organization:

The missions are overseen by an experienced local team, who prepare the protocols and activities about a month before departure, based on actual needs in the field.

You will be immersed in remote and authentic areas, discovering a new culture and richly diverse natural ecosystems. This experience requires flexibility and an open mind!

Die Freiwilligen-Organisation stellt sich vor

Since 2009, we have been actively working to protect and promote the last remaining threatened biodiversity sanctuaries, particularly the Makay massif (Madagascar) and the island of Sulawesi (Indonesia), two territories of exceptional ecological richness.

Born out of naturalist scientific expeditions, our organization works hand in hand with local and international interdisciplinary researchers to study and document the richness of these unique ecosystems, thereby building a strong case for the creation of protected areas.

At the same time, we work closely with local communities, developing a holistic approach to sustainable development focused on social, environmental, and economic aspects. It implements concrete actions with and for the populations to improve their living conditions, well-being, and to promote local and sustainable management of natural areas.

Protecting these biodiversity sanctuaries also means raising awareness and mobilizing the international community. Through documentaries, exhibitions, and educational science outreach programs, our organization introduces these territories to the general public and raises awareness about the urgency of their protection. We also offer citizens the opportunity to get actively involved through ecovolunteering missions.
So wählen wir die Organisationen auf unserem Portal aus.
