Volunteer in Rome – Sustainable Farming & Social Impact

Einsatzort: Italien, Europa
Aktions-Bereich: Landwirtschaft
Volunteer in the heart of Rome to support sustainable farming and social inclusion. Work with urban gardens and nurseries to plant, harvest, compost, and lead eco-workshops. Help empower refugees, migrants, young people at risk, and people with disabilities through creative events and agriculture. Experience meaningful travel that nourishes communities and the planet.

Projekt und Rolle der Freiwilligen

Rome’s urban gardens are transforming green spaces into hubs of social change and environmental innovation. This dynamic project lets you contribute to sustainable farming in one of the world’s most historic cities. You’ll collaborate with local NGOs to plant, nurture, and harvest crops while promoting biodiversity and eco-friendly practices.

You’ll help build resilience in vulnerable communities through agriculture. You’ll support refugees, migrants, people with disabilities, and young people at risk in enriching workshops—from planting to cooking and handicrafts—all rooted in local traditions. You’ll bring purpose to every seed you sow and every story you share.

What is this project about?
This program addresses environmental degradation, food inequality, and social exclusion in urban Rome. You’ll work within a community-driven framework to restore green spaces, promote circular economy principles, and improve soil health across urban sites.

What will I be doing?
You’ll help maintain vegetable gardens, plant Mediterranean flora, compost organic waste, water growing crops, and assist with eco-education events. You’ll help organize multicultural cooking classes and artisan design workshops that unite local communities and amplify voices of marginalised groups.

Tasks include:

Planting seeds and seedlings in urban plots and nurseries

Composting and managing eco-friendly agricultural systems

Harvesting seasonal vegetables and herbs

Leading or assisting workshops on gardening, food, and crafts

Facilitating cooking events and creative community engagement

Supporting environmental awareness initiatives promoting circular economy

Why choose this project?
You’ll gain first‑hand experience in sustainable agriculture and community development. You’ll learn practical eco‑farming methods and workshop facilitation. You’ll partner with local NGOs pushing for social inclusion through hands‑on action. You’ll broaden your perspective by exploring lesser‑known parts of Rome and forging deep connections with locals. You’ll help strengthen green spaces and social cohesion in a beloved European capital.

Whether you stay two weeks or longer, you’ll leave knowing your actions helped sow real change—both in the soil and in the lives of individuals and communities.
