In Cusco, we work with four small partner hospitals, primarily day-care centers, to provide you with an international nursing internship.
Each facility has around ten beds for specific cases and about twenty local healthcare staff, including doctors and nurses. The total capacity for students in Peru is 15 at a time, distributed across the different facilities and services (mainly general medicine).
Departments with the greatest need for interns are maternity (midwifery), rehabilitation (physiotherapy), and nutrition (minimum requirement: intermediate level in Spanish, duration: at least 6 weeks).
As with all our international nursing and medical internship programs, this project in Peru allows you to validate your academic year while gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the United Nations’ goal of healthcare access for all.
Interns are supervised throughout their stay by a project manager and a local on-site supervisor.
French students can consult the welcome brochure for all necessary information.
Role of interns in Peru
There are often more patients than available staff, so the need for personnel is constant, and the contribution of international students is valuable year-round.
An international nursing internship in Peru means:
The hospitals do not have state-of-the-art equipment, and staffing resources are limited. An international nursing internship does not involve working alone—interns will always be paired with an on-site healthcare professional.
The local team organizes cultural activities on public holidays.
