Nursing Internship in India – Humanitarian Experience in Kerala

For several years, nursing students have been traveling to India to complete their mandatory internship abroad.
The nursing internship in Kerala offers hands-on experience in the medical field within hospitals and health centers in Fort Cochin.
Interns work alongside local staff and take part in awareness programs that benefit underprivileged communities.

As with all our international nursing and medical internship programs, this project allows students to validate their academic year
while contributing to the United Nations’ goal of ensuring access to healthcare for all.

This hospital internship, supervised by a local team, is ideal for students and healthcare professionals seeking real field experience.
Since many hospitals in India are under-equipped, interns may encounter patients suffering from advanced illnesses and can also assist in preventive health campaigns.

Healthcare Facilities in India

Our partner hospitals in Kerala receive patients from across the region with various medical conditions.
Interns can choose among several specialties and assist healthcare staff in different departments.
Qualified professionals may work with greater autonomy depending on their level of experience.

Typical Week for an Intern

Sunday: airport pickup, transfer to the accommodation, orientation session, and free evening.

Monday to Friday: breakfast followed by hospital work (usually from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), supervised by local medical staff.
The average commute between the volunteer house and the hospital is around one hour.

Evenings: free time to enjoy cultural activities such as temple visits, yoga, cooking or meditation classes,
craft workshops, pottery, Ayurvedic massages, and more. Some activities may require an additional fee.

Weekends: interns are free to explore the region and make the most of their humanitarian experience in India.
