Marine ecosystem monitoring program

The ecosystems of our area both on sea and land are under constant and geometrically increasing threat. We aim to conserve them through scientific work, community engagement and direct on-the-ground actions.

In our Marine Ecosystem Monitoring Program, volunteers can participate in either activty or both potentially:

- Seagrass monitoring (June to September): you will work mostly in the water (sea) at a depth of no more than few meters measuring vital characteristics of the seagrass ecosystems in permanent sample plots

- Mediterannean monk seal monitoring (year round): you will work along the coastline with the use of cameras and direct observations monitoring this species

For both activities people work obligatorily in groups of two or more people.

In addition to this volunteer project, we currently have three other pre-arranged activities. Feel free to contact us for more information on:

Volunteer selection process

We operate on a non discriminatory policy basis. People of all ages 18 or above can potentially join the program provided they can show the relative commitment and ethos. We try our best to fit what we do to the individual volunteer. We don’t separate people based on gender, ethnic origin, sexual orientation or religious belief.

Commitment to our cause is an essential characteristic of any volunteer. For us the ideal volunteer is a person that can turn a problem into a success.

We have a two stage application process whereby following the first stage of the application process of sending the form ,a second stage follows where a live interview is held via skype, telephone or in person.
