How the project is making a difference:

The project is part of a leading non-profit organisation which has the management responsibility for three protected areas and takes a community centred approach to all conservation and development work. They encourage sustainable use of resources within the local community.

Why volunteers are needed:

Volunteers enable the project to sustain and expand its vital conservation and development efforts by having more people out in the field. Volunteers carry out important field research, education and conservation actions that are making a significant contribution to the project’s mission: protecting wildlife and its habitats, raising awareness, empowering local communities and sustaining natural resources. This means all our volunteer activities make a real contribution to the management of these spectacular areas and benefit the people who live closest to them.

The research and monitoring carried out by volunteers contributes directly to the ongoing, programmed activities at the project. Volunteers work alongside scientists, rangers, and field staff to gather and analyse data, assist in the protection of vulnerable and endangered species, and to achieve sustainable conservation results in protected areas of the Maya Mountain Marine Corridor. The work of volunteers makes an invaluable contribution to fulfilling this mission.

Die Freiwilligen-Organisation stellt sich vor

We are an award winning non-profit organisation arranging ethical, inspiring and supported volunteering opportunities around the world since 2001. Volunteers are needed from 1- 12 weeks for animal, conservation, child care, education, teaching, building and community volunteering projects around the world.

In this time of uncertainty during the current Coronavirus outbreak, we are monitoring the global situation closely in conjunction with the UK FCDO and our local teams on the ground. Some of our countries are now open again for travel, our destinations are opening up in different stages and with different travel requirements. We are following this closely and taking bookings accordingly. As for so many people, our projects have had a very challenging time and are in great need of volunteer support!

We want to reassure volunteers that you can feel confident booking an overseas volunteering placement with us and we have introduced extra flexibility to help with this.

Flexible payment terms
We are giving added flexibility on payments. Normally we ask for final payment by 8 weeks before start date, but we are reducing this to 1 month before start date for placements with start dates in 2021 and in the first half of 2022. We will only ever ask for your final payment if we are confident your trip will go ahead.

Flexible date changes
If any of our volunteers want or need to reschedule (regardless of whether it is related to Coronavirus or not!), we are happy to reschedule for up to 18 months. You just need to let us know 1 month or more before your placement date and it can be open ended if you aren’t sure when you want to reschedule to. We are keeping this free of charge for maximum flexibility!

Booking flights – wait for now
We normally recommend that volunteers book flights as soon as possible after their placement is confirmed to secure the best deals, but with the current uncertainty, it’s best to wait until travel restrictions are lifted and the airlines can confirm their schedules before booking flights and making other arrangements.

We’d love to help organise your next volunteer adventure, ready for when the time is right for your trip!
So wählen wir die Organisationen auf unserem Portal aus.
